What do self-criticism, perfectionism, fear of being judged, fear of failure, and fear of making mistakes have to do with writing? A lot, sometimes!
For some of us, putting pen to paper can make us feel terrified and vulnerable to humiliation. For others, we struggle to enjoy writing because there’s always a voice in our head saying that what we’re doing isn’t “good enough.”
If you’ve been wanting to write but can’t seem to get started, or if you’ve already done some writing but find yourself feeling blocked, it may be time to confront your inner critic.
In this workshop, you’ll use listening exchanges and relaxed, no-pressure writing prompts to time-travel to your past, where you’ll explore possible sources of your inner critic. You’ll strategize ways to playfully but powerfully stand up to that inner voice that tells you to censor your thinking and your writing. You’ll finish this workshop with a clearer idea of what your inner critic is, where it came from, and how you can effectively engage it, so that you can begin to write (or return to writing) with enthusiasm and a sense of fun.
This workshop is primarily aimed at people who want to write or who are already writing but is open to anyone wanting to explore and confront their inner critic.
The workshop will be in English, but you are welcome to take part no matter what your first language is.
